Terrible things
were afoot
In Santa's world this year.
Even the hearty and hale
May quake at this tale
Perhaps burst out in tears.

It started
late in April
When the intern intake came
Soon all ground to a stop
In Santa's toyshop
One of the newest elves to blame.

Kallelf (who was
the shop steward)
Noted problems from the start
with Telftarni (yes, his sister)
who stubbornly insisted
on taking all the toys apart.

"This is worse than I thought!"
Santa said to himself,
As he looked around the shop,
With Telftarni in elation,
Amid total devastation,
"I've got to get this elf to the doc'!"

The doctor
looking at Telftarni
Just confirmed his deepest fears,
"It is obvious to me"
said the doc' quietly,
"That the problem is to do with her ears."

"You see, the ears
of an elf
Are sharp and pointed, by habit,
Whereas these, if you copy,
Are long and are floppy,
So these ... are the ears of a rabbit!"

"This elf suffers
from a virus,
The feared and dreaded
E2L,
A virus as created,
by a creature widely hated,
That most evil ...
EasterB himself."

"So take these pills
to fix her up,
She'll be as right as rain."
And thus, with medicine and rest,
Telftarni regressed
Back to her normal self again.

With the evil
Easter Bunny's
Most evil schemes athwarted
Telftarni is now unmuzzled
Working on the biggest puzzle
- How her broken toys should all be sorted!

So with sabotage avoided,
The work shop still on-line,
This year you'll get your presents,
Although they may not be on time
(Because the elves will all be partying,
Like it's 1999).

Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Millennium
